 The LAPFF Mission
LAPFF exists to promote the investment interests of local authority pension funds, and to maximise their influence as shareholders whilst promoting corporate social responsibility and high standards of corporate governance amongst the companies in which they invest.
 
Formed in 1990, the LAPFF Forum brings together a diverse range of local authority pension funds with combined assets of over £70 billion.

Forum turns attention to China - Labour standards highlighted by new guide
Forum members will be able to assess their fund managers' engagement over labour standards in China using a new trustee guide.

The LAPFF Trustee Guide, entitled /Labour Standards In China: Best Practice Guidelines/, covers a range of issues relevant to companies doing business in China, including labour laws and human rights, trade unions, health and safety, diversity and the use of disciplinary measures, and wages and working hours. It has been developed as a framework for regular monitoring of companies to detect emerging concerns about risk and value destruction due to poor labour standards.

The guide is intended to enable trustees to review their fund managers' engagement with companies. It includes indicators for measuring the effectiveness of managing employment risks and opportunities in investee companies with major operations or supply chains in China.

The Guide will enable trustees to conduct periodic reviews of their fund managers engagement activities affecting China, in order to:
